Director Tony Scott`s death has been confirmed as suicide
The `Top Gun` filmmaker jumped to his death from Vincent Thomas Bridge into the Los Angeles Harbor on August 19, 2012, and the coroner`s report has now ruled on his cause of death, describing it as suicide, caused by blunt force injuries and drowning.
Preliminary autopsy results also showed Tony had "therapeutic levels" of the anti-depressant Remeron and the prescription sleep-aid Lunesta in his system.
In the wake of his passing, it was speculated that Tony had been diagnosed with brain cancer, but the autopsy found no trace of any serious illnesses.
Coroner Craig Harvey told the Los Angeles Times newspaper: "There was no evidence of neoplasia - cancer - identified."
The final coroner`s report will be ready in two weeks.
Tony - the brother of director Ridley Scott - was 68 when he took his own life, he left behind his wife Donna and their 12-year-old twin sons Max and Frank.
Shortly before his death, he had completed work on action movie `Out of the Furnace`, which stars Christian Bale.
